Optional – Under 25’s

A competition program is given to the instructor about a month prior to the competition. This enables the instructor to ensure that the children are taught their respective dances. Remember to always check to see if you are needed to partner individuals.

Doors Open – Starting Time – First Event

Generally these times are 1 hour apart. The reason for the doors to open earlier is so that the competitors can prepare themselves, ie: change into costumes, dance shoes, find seats/tables, etc. before the commencement of events. It is always best to arrive when the doors open because the Progressive Teams are always danced first. Please don’t let other members of the team down by arriving late.

Priorities on Arrival

1.       Find where Seven Hills RSL has been allocated seating.

2.       Check the running order and identify which events you are to compete in. (Progressive Teams are always danced first).

3.       Obtain your competition number from the instructor/club delegate.

Numbers

Male – positioning is on the back, not to high, not to low, near the centre around the shoulder blades.

Female – (individual event only) as the number can be easily covered in different dance holds, the best place is on the skirt about hip level and slightly to the right.

Your number must be visible to the Adjudicators.

Marshalling Area

Competitors are to report to marshalling a minimum of 3 events prior to their event. If you do not report in time, it is at the compeers’ discretion whether to allow you to dance.

Heats and Finals

Different events will attract a various number of entries. In most cases, 6 couples make a final. The number of couples in a final will depend on several factors including how many couples are in the event, floor size and time available.

It is important to listen to the Compeer, as there may be times when rounds are cut from the program.

Recall Numbers

The Compeer will announce the successful couples of a qualifying round; make sure you are listening carefully.

The Results

Most competitions the results for the first half of the day will be called at the end of the lunch break, and the second half will be announced at the end of the day.
